Selfish Giant Play in School

29th January 2019

The children of St Michael's were very lucky this week to be treated to a performance of 'The Selfish Giant' by Image Musical Theatre.  This is the second time they have performed for our children and we were impressed by the quality of the production.  The day began with the company setting up the scenery in the school hall and then the children were invited in to learn some of the catchy songs to enable them to join in and participate with the experience.  A group of the children were then taken to one side and dressed up to be part of the action.  We then joined together later in the morning for the full production.  The story was told sensitively and was very engaging for all of our children from 3-11 years.  The children gave very positive reviews about the acting, singing, costumes and staging.  This is an important aspect of our creative arts curriculum and is vital to bring stories and drama alive, right in our own community.
